Best Flash for Sony a7r IV

If you are the proud owner of a Sony a7R IV (including the revised “A” version), or if you are considering purchasing one shortly, you may be wondering what accessories would be the most excellent match for this 61MP beast.

Please let me know in the comments if I’ve missed a recommended flash for the a7R IV that you believe should have been included in this guide or if you have any personal experience with any of the moments listed here, whether positive or negative.

1. Sony HVL-F60RM Radio Flash

Sony’s best flashlight is the Sony HVL-F60RM. It has a built-in 2.4 GHz radio antenna, making it easy for shooters to set up portable lighting setups that work with both P-TTL and ADI metering.

This flash can be set as a commander or a remote. It works with all of Sony’s current radio commanders and receivers, including ratio control, the ability to work with up to 15 flashes in five groups, and access to 14 channels. So, $548 is the best flash for your Sony a7 IV.

2. Sony HVL-F45RM

The Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash has a built-in 2.4 GHz radio receiver, making it easy for users to set up portable lighting quickly. It also supports both P-TTL and ADI metering. This flash can be set as a commander or a remote.

It works with all of Sony’s current radio commanders and receivers, including ratio control, the ability to work with up to 15 flashes in five groups, and access to 14 channels. The flash also works with Sony’s optical wireless flash device, which can act as a controller or a remote unit.

3. Godox V1 Flash

The V1 is driven by a 2600mAh lithium-ion battery that can be taken out and charged separately. Each charge gives you up to 480 full-power flashes, so you don’t miss any of the action. When we talk about speed, the V1 can get back to full power in 1.5 seconds, which is fast enough to keep up with your subject.

It also supports High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000 sec, which helps with bright backgrounds and shooting with wide apertures. The V1 also supports front and rear curtain sync.

4. Sony HVL-F46RM Flash

With the HVL-F46RM Wireless Radio Flash, Sony takes their line of on-camera flashes to the next level. This cutting-edge flash was carefully designed to make the most of the power of the Alpha camera series. Face recognition and TTL timing give you lighting options you could only dream of with on-camera lighting. It has a 1.7-second reload time and can shoot ten fps up to 60 times in a row.

5. Sony HVL-F60R II

The HVL-F60RM2 Wireless Radio Flash is the next step in Sony’s line of flashes that fit on top of cameras. This cutting-edge flash was carefully designed to make the most of the power of the Alpha camera series. Face recognition and TTL timing give you lighting options you could only dream of with on-camera lighting. It can be reloaded in 1.7 seconds and can shoot up to 200 times in a row at ten fps. It has a power port from the outside that works with the Sony FA-EBA1.

6. Eachshot Godox TT350S 2.4G HSS

The Godox TT350S flash is excellent if you have a Sony A7iii, Sony A7R ii, or any other Sony alpha compact camera that works with TTL Autoflash. Because of this, it has won its place as our second-best choice overall.

Two AA batteries drive the flash head, making the machine light and easier to shoot without getting tired. There is also safety against overheating and 22 levels of strength. With a sync speed of up to 1/8000 seconds, High-Speed Sync lets you get a small depth of field. The Godox TT350S comes in a Canon version, just like the Neewer flash that comes next on the list.

Complete 2.4G wireless transmission lets you choose between Enslaver and enslaved person and gives you power over up to three groups. The Speedlite is ranked at GN36 for the most light it can give off. The Godox TT350S has a carrying case, a color filter, a small stand, and an instruction booklet.

7. Neewer HSS TTL NW880S

This type has an incredible maximum output of 60 GN, which can be changed in 8 steps. The flash has everything you want, like TTL, enslaver/enslaved person, multi, and flash exposure correction. It has 32 modes to choose from, and up to 4 groups of other units can be controlled by it.

The newer HSS TLL NW880S is powered by 4 AA batteries, giving it up to 230 flashes at full power. The amount of time it takes to recycle is between 0.1 and 2.6 seconds, which is not bad. In addition, the device has Hyper Speed Sync, which lets the lens open even when the flash is on.

8. Godox V1-S Flash

Let’s finish the list with a Godox TTL flash with a round head. Even though it’s ranked fifth, it could be your best if that’s what you like. The machine can produce soft, professional-looking lighting with a setting that can be changed. It can work in multiple modes and has all the wifi and advanced features you could want.

Godox won’t say the Guide Number of the V1-S camera flash, but online sites say it’s GN28 at ISO 100 and 50mm. Even though this isn’t very strong, it should be enough for most uses. The best things about the Godox V-1 are how fast it recycles, how well it’s made, and how long its battery lasts. Also, there are ten power steps and an IR-based Autofocus help. Unfortunately, as the S indicates, the V-1S only works with Sony products.

But depending on the brand, you can also get it for your Canon, Nikon, or Fujifilm camera, which is called V-1C, N, or F. It’s important to note that the Canon version has a metal hotshoe while the S version has one made of plastic. With that in mind, we think this is the best flash that Sony caused to make for the Sony A7R III, Sony A7rii, or even the Sony a7 ii.
