Canon VIXIA HF G50 Review

Compact and black, the Canon Vixia HF G50 4K Camcorder can record high-resolution video in the 4K format. The G50 has a 1/2.3-inch UHD 4K CMOS sensor, a DIGIC DV 6 image processor, an 8-blade circular aperture, 5-axis image stabilization, a 20x optical zoom in 4K, and a maximum resolution of UHD 4K30. Additionally, it can record video at a frame rate of up to 30 frames per second.

Using the built-in twin SD card slots, you may record video at resolutions of up to UHD 4K30 (3840 x 2160) and save it to SD cards that are sold separately. Other recording options include recording in slow motion, fast motion, or intervals, and both HD and 4K resolutions are supported. The lens has a 20x optical zoom and a broad field of vision of 29.3 degrees, allowing for a maximum zoom of 627 millimeters while shooting in 4K. The sophisticated picture stabilization on all five axes helps to eliminate tremors and jitter, which is notably noticeable at longer lens lengths.

You have complete control over the camera settings thanks to the joystick, the lens ring, the custom dial, and the five assignable buttons located all around the camera. The electronic viewfinder may be tilted for added ease and comfort, and the LCD can be adjusted to suit your needs. It also has a touchscreen that makes it simple to modify the camera’s settings.

In addition, there is a lens hood with a lens barrier, an AC adapter, an adapter cable, and a BP-820 battery pack included in the package.

  • 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of recording up to UHD 4K30 video; DIGIC DV 6 image processor; intelligent 5-axis picture stabilisation
  • a circular aperture with 8 blades, a 20x optical zoom at 4K, and a large zoom range of 29.3 to 627mm
  • Dual SD card slots
  • Control options include a joystick, five buttons, a ring around the lens, and two programmable dials.
  • The camera is capable of filming in slow motion, fast motion, and intervals in both HD and 4K. It has a capacitive touchscreen LCD measuring 3 inches and a tiltable electronic viewfinder.

Canon VIXIA HF G50 Recording

The Canon G50 can record video in both 4K UHD/30p (4:2:0 8 bit) and 1080p (4:2:2 10 bit through SDI/HDMI Output), as was previously mentioned. It utilizes twin SD card slots, records in MP4 format, and can both dual and relay recording. In addition to that, it can record in slow motion as well as fast motion at intervals ranging from 0.4x to 1200x.

The G50 features a 4K 1/2.3-inch sensor and a Digic DV 6 image processor. It is also capable of using over-sample HD processing, which results in increased image quality.

Canon VIXIA HF G50 Stabilization

Users can achieve picture stabilization using the camcorder’s Dynamic mode, made possible by the five-axis Intelligent Optical Image Stabilization technology. Canon claims that using the technology would reduce image distortion while moving around.

Canon asserts that “it is possible to take pictures using natural beautiful bokeh” thanks to the system’s 8-blade circular aperture. In addition to that, it possesses a tilting, high-resolution color Electronic View Finder as well as a 3-inch LCD touch panel screen (EVF).
