LaCie makes new portable hard drives that look great and are great for photographers who are always on the go.

LaCie has made two new lines of portable hard drives with a brand-new design by Neil Poulton, a lot of storage space, and the ability to work with all devices. The aluminum and plastic shells of both the LaCie Mobile Drive and the LaCie Mobile Drive Secure are strong and made from recycled materials. Even cardboard boxes are made from used materials.

The drives have up to 5 terabytes of storage, which is enough for a lot of 4K or even 8K content, and they are set up to work with PC, Mac, and iPad USB-C right out of the box. With the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and Type-C connection, you can transfer files at up to 130MB/s with just one click. That’s not quite as fast as what the best portable SSDs can do right now, but it’s fast enough to make good progress when backing up.

LaCie Mobile Drives come with a one-month plan for Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps and LaCie Toolkit software, which lets you back up files whenever you want or on a set schedule. If you lose data and have to pay to get it back, having a three-year limited warranty and a three-year subscription to Rescue Data Recovery Services will give you more peace of mind.

LaCie Mobile Drive Secure is different from LaCie Mobile Drive because it has more hardware encryption and a lock/unlock feature in the LaCie Toolkit software. This adds an extra layer of security to the data that needs it.

Later in September, the Lacie Mobile Drive Secure will go on sale, but until November, only Apple customers will be able to buy it. The price for the 2TB version is $99.99, the price for the 4TB version is $144.99, and the price for the 16GB version is $164.99. (5TB).

The 1TB LaCie Mobile Drive will cost $74.99. The 2TB, 4TB, and 16TB models will cost the same as their Secure counterparts: $99.99, $144.99, and $164.99, respectively (5TB).
