There are rumours that DJI, a company that makes drones, will release a new action camera next month. However, the rumours about what it will do are still vague. What we know about the situation is listed below.
There are a lot of different companies that make action cameras, and they all work and look differently. In May 2019, DJI released its first action camera that wasn’t made by GoPro, which was the market leader at the time.
This DJI product was called the Osmo Action, and it turned out to be a great choice thanks to its high-quality image stabilisation, crisp, high-quality 4K video, and user interface that many buyers liked.
Also, the Osmo Action’s front display screen made it a usefully compact tool for video bloggers who didn’t want to deal with the weight of a mirrorless camera while shooting video on the go.
All of these were expected from a well-known brand that was already known for making high-quality drones. Later, in November 2021, the DJI Action 2 showed how well DJI could move into action cameras.
The modular design of this camera, which made it look like a cube, gave it a longer-than-average battery life and an even better shape for mobile vlogging.
Here are the rumours about when the Action 3 camera might be released. It’s getting close enough to the end of 2022 that a new camera model wouldn’t be a total surprise, and a couple of DJI product leakers are indeed dropping hints about it on Twitter.
@OsitaLV said in a vague tweet that people with Action 2 cameras should “get ready to sell” them. @DealsDrone, who leaked information about drone development, said, “DJI Action 3 will come out in mid-September, and it looks almost exactly like Osmo Action.”
“Why?” is the first question that comes to mind. Still, it hasn’t even been a year since DJI released its last action camera. Even a creative company like DJI doesn’t seem to be able to add enough to a new device to make it worth getting rid of the one from last year.
No one has told you specifics yet, but if you keep your Action 2, it’s likely that you won’t have to “sell” it.
The rumoured new product sounds more like a new product than an improvement unless DJI really surprises the market with something much better.
