Although specific details are scarce, both lenses appear to share the same core construction, differing mainly in barrel designs. The regular lens boasts the familiar exterior design found in most modern HD/SMC Pentax optics, featuring a distinctive green ring.
On the other hand, the ‘Classic’ variant showcases a more streamlined appearance, with a smooth focus ring and a different typeface used for its markings. At first glance, the styling might ironically appear more modern than classic, but it pays homage to the design of the SMC Pentax-FA 50mm f/1.4, a lens dating back to around 1991.
