The retouching of the skin in portrait shots can be done in one of five straightforward ways

Only having a working knowledge of how to light, position, and shoot a portrait is only half of what is required to create an engaging final product. Your editing abilities need to be equally as sharp as your talents behind the camera because almost all portraits will require some degree of retouching. Check out this great video lesson that will walk you through five simple strategies for retouching skin in Photoshop if you are just starting out in the industry.

This wonderful video lesson was created for you by Irene Rudnyk, and it will walk you through five simple ways for retouching skin in Photoshop. If you are new to the process of retouching portraits, one of the most crucial things to keep in mind is that less is more in terms of how much editing you do.

It is also simple to go too far with this technique, which may leave you with outcomes that are too artificial and do not resemble human beings. If you’re just getting started, a decent rule of thumb is to just touch up items that are very transitory, such as a pimple or a cut. In general, features that are permanent should not be edited out unless the customer expressly requests that they be removed.

It is often recommended to err on the side of executing fewer retouches rather than doing additional ones. Watch the video that’s been embedded above to get the complete overview from Rudnyk.
